Dr. Marsha Farney - Director
An award winning former classroom teacher, middle school and high school counselor, and adjunct professor at Texas A&M University, Commerce, Dr. Farney has relevant experience at every level of public education.
She earned her BS and MS degrees in education from Texas A&M, Commerce, and her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas, Austin. She also earned additional certifications qualifying her to serve as a counselor and principal.
In 2012 Dr. Farney was elected to represent District 20 in the Texas House of Representatives. She served two terms on the Public Education Committee and supported major education reform that greatly reduced standardized testing, created Districts of Innovation, and much more. Dr. Farney also served as the House Chair for the Fine Arts Caucus for both terms. Prior to her election to the House of Representatives, she was elected to the District 10 seat of the State Board of Education serving 16 counties and 1.8 million residents.
